Skills

Skills that teach an agent how to work on a subject. Each one works in any workspace that holds subjects, Starlings included.

  • Find the subjectFind the subject (project, lead, partner or event) a request is about before you act on it. Use at the start of any task in a workspace that holds subjects, before you read, write, file or schedule anything.
  • Read the chainRead a subject's history (calls, decisions, open tasks, goals, recent messages) before you write anything to it. Use after you find the subject and before you draft, propose, reply, or create a task.
  • File to the subjectFile every output (a task, a document, a message, an issue, a note) to the subject it is about, with attribution. Use whenever you produce something the team should see later.
  • Propose, don't applyPropose a consequential change and wait for approval before you apply it. Use before any write that other people see at once, that leaves the workspace, or that you cannot undo.
  • Record a decisionRecord a settled choice as a decision on its subject, not as a chat message. Use when a call, a thread or the person settles something the team must not reopen.

Install

Each skill is a folder with one SKILL.md, in the Agent Skills format. Download the file into your agent's skills folder, for example ~/.claude/skills/<name>/SKILL.md. The rules behind them are on the For agents page.
